Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
