We begin with inquiries from Conservative MP the committee chair, who chairs the panel.
She commences by providing background to the leaked memorandum written by Michael Prescott and released in the Telegraph.
"It is not my wish for the BBC leaning toward one side or the other, I simply desire it balanced, impartial and fair," he says.
In response to a query if he believes the British Broadcasting Corporation is structurally prejudiced, Prescott answers: "Absolutely not. It is important to note, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is world class - encompassing documentary and entertainment programming."
But he adds: "There remains real work that needs to be done at the BBC."
Another previous consultant BBC consultant questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the BBC very seriously and that it maintains a "ongoing system and lively discussion" across fluid and multifaceted topics.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to have a proper conversation and argument and act accordingly?" she reflects. "As I see it, yes they were."
