The network's Top New Show of 2025 Earns a Substantial Extension for an Additional Two Seasons.

During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network unveiled a fresh animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. During a period often defined by dark humor, this show's earnestness found an audience and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family navigate their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his goal to help comedy break out of its current cynical streak. He attributed this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences more opportunities to enjoy the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The entire series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
