The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Get Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort seeks to provide aid to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of performers featured on Lullaby features a group of well-known figures from the industry. All took part in the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of producers and composers. The track features a mix of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The team running the project have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The situation in the area was noted for its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
