The skiing legend Assured of Being 'in a good place' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "in an excellent position" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, on the back of earning a top-three finish for the fourth instance in her last five World Cup competitions.

The 41-year-old, who last week set a record by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup top-three result.

Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere

Racing in the French Alps resort for the first occasion in almost a decade, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking second place.

"I didn't quite have the right line on the initial jump," Vonn remarked. "From that point on, I skied well. I'm happy with my skiing today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was too conservative."

This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also finished third in the downhill on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Retirement

Vonn ended her career in early 2019 as a result of persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in December 2024 after a significant orthopedic procedure.

With less than two months remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are set to run from February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are timely.

She already possesses an Olympic gold and two bronze medals from previous Games and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the next Olympics.

"When we get to Cortina, I will be fully ready," the athlete confirmed.

Aiming for Further Glory

Alongside her Games aspirations, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four overall crystal globes she has accumulated over a professional journey spanning 20 years.

She currently holds a substantial lead at the top of the overall downhill standings and is ranked fifth in the overall super-G standings.

This current World Cup campaign includes a total of nine races scheduled before the circuit finale in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
