US Armed Forces Executes Deadly Attack in Pacific, Leading to Four Deaths

According to a senior defense spokesperson, the US military carried out a fatal kinetic engagement on a boat in the Pacific Ocean, killing four individuals.

“A US joint task force conducted a deadly attack on a craft operated by a terrorist group in open sea. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was traveling along a known drug smuggling route and was engaged in illicit drug transport. All four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no US military forces were harmed.”

Context and Prior Strikes

This announcement follows a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers to and from Venezuela. In that announcement on online platforms, the US president alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund drug trafficking and criminal activities, pledging to increase the military presence.

Only on Tuesday, the Pentagon stated it had carried out strikes on three boats suspected of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Beginning on 2 September, over 20 military engagements have killed at least 99 people, most off the coast of Venezuela.

Government Justifies Tactics Amidst Pressure

The administration has encountered increasing pressure to release video of a September 2nd vessel attack. But, officials have refused to do so. The administration has defended its campaign as a success, saying it has stopped drugs from entering US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is stretching the bounds of legal military action.

Although the administration has said the campaign is about stopping drugs headed to the US, comments from a top official appeared to confirm a broader political objective. In a recent interview, the senior advisor remarked the leader “wants to keep on destroying vessels until the Venezuelan president cries uncle.”

This indicates the series of strikes may be part of a strategy to remove Venezuela's current government.
